Part II

The Concert and the BE Fireworks

January 8, 2008

Brods and Betanettes were all over the vast expanse of the amphitheater behind Quezon Hall. A Betan group was on the left side of the amphitheather, another at the back and one big group was at Quezon Hall where they were allowed to stay by virtue of Beta Epsilon being the sponsor of the fireworks show.

Stills from the video. Left photo is the heart-shaped pyro that surprised and thrilled the crowd. Right photo is the pyro rain that enveloped the night sky over the amphitheater and served as a fitting finale to the launching of the UP Centennial.

At the end of the 2-hour concert, the choral groups and the huge audience stood up to sing UP Naming Mahal with great fervor. The younger generation sang it with clenched fists, a practice started by UP militants years ago who even have their own version of the lyrics.
