SMALL AND BIG TALK

▲Our most senior brod remembers everyone in the list of members of BE batch 1932. He volunteered the information that his ka-batch Ariston Huliganga lives in Baguio City. He explained that he was not in the photo of the BE 1932 because he was not able to attend the photo session.

 BONUS TRACKS:

Vicky Tauli-Corpuz,

Betanette and Chair of the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues

Brods and Betanettes knew Vicky as the Betanette of Bong Corpuz '68, already an honorable title as it is, but later in the day, we were calling her "Ambassador", a more honorable title.

That is because Vicky is the elected chairperson of the important United Nations office called the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues. She is on her second 3-year term.

Both Vicky and Bong are connected with Tebtebba (or, Indigenous Peoples' International Centre for Policy Research and Education), an indigenous peoples' organization born out of the need for heightened advocacy to have the rights of indigenous peoples recognized, respected and protected worldwide.

Vicky is the Executive Director of Tebtebba and Bong is the Admin Officer. They have their website at this url:

http://www.tebtebba.org/

Keep up the good work, Bong and Vicky! May your tribe increase!  After all it is not easy to take charge of issues that involve more than 370 million indigenous peoples all over the world. It is nice to know that we have a Betan involved in an important work that is beyond engineering.
