Brod Fernando P. Javier, BE '32,   BSCE '33, addresses the UP Centennial graduates of the National College of Public Administration, UP Diliman, April 25, 2008

Brod Panding read from a printed copy of his speech which he had dictated to his niece. But towards the end of his talk, his niece was surprised that he added something that was not in the final section of his speech.

The photo at the left is a camera scan of his handwritten note. Some quotable quotes:

"Nobody grows old by merely living a number of years. People grow old by deserting their ideals. Years wrinkle the skin, but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul."

"So long as your heart receives messages of beauty, cheer, courage, grandeur and power from the earth, so long are you young.

"When your heart is full of pessimism and cynicism, then and only then are you grown old, indeed, and may God have mercy on your soul.

"Live everyday of your life with enthusiasm."

The 1932-33 BE group photo which we retrieved from our hardisk. Ojie had it printed and framed, and presented it to Brod Panding, who was of course surpised that we have a photo which he did not have.
