Warm handshakes of greetings, bottles of wine, bags of chicharon, a one-man band from batch 63 and a few items more -- these are the few things we needed to boot up the celebration that began at 5 pm and ended at overtime at one in the morning

Duet with Glenn Dajac |
Nolito Madlangbayan is not your typical batch '63 brod. He was in the first Beta Epsilon band which Prof. Ilio christened The Beatless in 1963. That band won one contest after another. Noli is better known as our version of Cliff Richard. Already a senior citizen, Noli can still carry a tune quite well, which is an understatement really.
Our kabatch is shown here with brods and Betanettes who think they can carry a tune as well.
Brod, sing to us again at our Xmas party. Bring a monkey with a tin can for the coins that generous brods will toss your way. It would be Christmas time, after all ;-)

4) The
brods present were called to be recognized by batch the most senior being
batch '55 and the youngest batch '08. The Golden Jubilarian batch of '58
was given special introduction by it's MEB, JUN BERBA. Those that were
there are: MANOLING AGUSTINES, ROLLY REVENTAR, BEN RABUCO, REY BAUSTISTA
and LITO MANAHAN. Only five batchmates out of the original 23. |
5)
Apart from the catered food, eight cases and one keg of beer, ten bottles
of wine and three bottles of hard drink were consumed to the last drop. 6) For
pulutan, two lechons, LAPID's chicharon, and two large bilaos of pancit
malabon were donated. Ubos din lahat. 7) For
entertainment, NOLI brought along his electric guitar and belted out songs
by Cliff Richards and the Beatles. He was joined in the singing by LARRY
and TITO. Re-living old times? 8)
Donated raffle prizes were given to the lucky winners. Even the heads of
the two lechons were raffled to the delight of the winners. Sigurado na
ang ulam na paksiw na lechon the next day. 9) The
deadline for the use of the hall was extended to 1:00AM (regular time is
12:00MN). Kaya lang by 1:00AM there were still brods in one table who
could not be convinced to end the night. I saw there SID CONSUNJI, AL
CERVERO, CS SIMBULAN, DANNY LOPEZ, ROY PIMENTEL, and some others. So the
hall administrator, my wife EVE, started closing the lights, so they were
forced to stand up. Ha! Ha! Ha! Hindi nila kaya ang betanette.
|
10) We
missed the company of YATS OBIAS, and DONI DUMLAO, who told me their
desire to attend. But because of physical constraints, they were advised
by their doctors to stay home. Next time. Pero si VIC REYES, hindi
nagpaawat. When his doctor advised him to rest he went to another for a
second opinion, nang ayaw pa rin, he went to a third who allowed him to
go. Of course, that is a joke, but VIC was there. 11)
The financial damage for all the food, drinks, merryment, and fellowship
was P500 per head. A good price for the happiness and enjoyment. 12)
NEXT STOP: BE CHRISTMAS PARTY and LANTERN PARADE FIRWORKS closing the
centennial year.
