BE NEWS: Residents and alumni present to COE Dean Rowena Guevara the NEW ROP that is PI-FREE.

by Lito Manahan

Yesterday, October 6, 2008, the residents and alumni brods of the BETA EPSILON fraternity presented to COE Dean Rowena Guevarra the NEW RITES OF PASSAGE (ROP) of the fraternity that is law-compliant and devoid of any form of physical initiations.

In attendance were twenty alumni brods from batch 49 to batch 90 and resident officers and members of BE. The brothers also had a sweetheart present in the person of BING DE LEON. The venue was the BETA EPSILON MULTI-MEDIA HALL.

In his speech, MEB LITO MORTELLA said that "this product was finalized after a series of serious debates and discussions among the brotherhood that started way back in 1992. Now we are proud to say that we have changed our ways from the days of violence to one that will make students who join BE better persons that will give eaningful service to the COE in particular and the country in general".

To commemorate the event, Dean Gev and Associate Dean Tonet were given replicas of wooden paddles with the seal of BE attached on one side.

For her part, Dean Gev said that she was overjoyed to have witnessed this momentous event in the history of BE. She will display the commemorative paddle given to her in her desk so that if a fratman enters her room and ask why she has a paddle in her desk she will relate the whole story of how she got it. Hopefully, the other frats in the COE will follow the footsteps of BE.

In closing, MEB LITO informed the Dean that in compliance with the rules and regulations of the college in the acceptance of neophytes to the fraternity, we shall submit to her in a few days the list of applicants who desire to join BE.

The day ended with merienda of pizza and soft drinks and some fellowship among the brods.

MON RAMIREZ will post the pictures.
