2008 Golden Jubilarian Dennis Quinto greets 2009 Golden Jubilarian Boy de leon

BEAI top honcho Roger Buendia '81 greets Jabby Jazmines '51, 30 years apart.

Seems like Jabby gives tips to Roger and Roger listens attentively

Brod Dennis Quinto '58 shakes hands with Brod Oca Arcinue from the batch of 2008

The photo tells us many things other than the fact that they joined the fraternity 50 years apart. One must read again Beta Epsilon history to grasp the key link in the story (or read an article in the ENewsletter 2009).

Lino greets UP Vice President Maricon Alfiler who was taking her own Sunday stroll with her husband.

Subject [be_matters] Feb 1 BE@80 Kick Off: Mass at the UP Chapel, UP Stroll, Engg Photos and Lunch at Bahay ng Alumni

Brods,

It was a very festive kick-off for the BE@80 in February, marked with lots of kwentuhan and kantyawan and kainan and of course, photo opps, with the brods, residents, alumni, and family and friends. Everything were fine and fun...the stroll, however, became limited to the trip towards the Bahay ng Alumni for the lunch (halatang gutom na).

Tito Aliga 63 even posted a welcome and congratulatory banner for the brods at the tennis court fence. (Mon R, please post the pic also)

Total attendance : 104 warm bodies, at least, as I may have missed listing some (my aplogies to them).

To borrow, Mr. Kapihan Joe Arvisu's words...wished you were there.....

Ojie

Don Alfonso from Mexico arrived 2 hours late and got to be greeted by brods who were already lined up for the photo-ops at the Beta Epsilon Way. He got a lot of camera clicks -- as this page shows -- because the fine SLR camera he gave me a year ago would automatically click itself whenever he was in focus as if to say, belatedly, muchas gracias, Seņor  ;-)

CAMARADERIE at the Beta Epsilon Way

Tito Aliga put up this banner at the side of the Tennis Court near Engineering. Thank you, kabatch, for the warmest welcome to brods and Betanettes on this special day.

Betans at the famous Beta Epsilon Way with the beloved Melrchor Hall in the background

Joe Arvisu, Jr was the MEB when the Beta Epsilon Way was conceptualized and first laid out in 1952. It was, in today's language, a brilliant idea in connectivity, a step towards the internet.

Joe: I am just curious -- what do you feel whenever you see the Beta Way of your youth? Maybe you can write an article for the BE@80 yearbook.

Attendance: more than 100 according to Ojie Alzona, exceeding the listup &
expected attendance of around 60. This upsurge explains why we ran out of

BONUS TRACKS
1 - Money Matters
To the credit of our Brod Roman, he did not go gaga over the dollars as much as the lady in gray did.
2 - Body language in photography tells you much about the photographer and his/her art

Doc Leony, far left, is the inventor of the UP Campus Stroll to kick off the 80th anniversary celebration, which everybody enjoyed. Following tradition,  he was put in charge of this activity, being its author.

Leony has now discovered that it is not only the professor who can order people around - the photographer can do it even much better with compelling authority and still be loved. Just observe how people would rush to obey the photographer's instruction to compress, to smile, to hold high the banner, etc.

3 - What's in a name(tag)?

Only Yats and I had our name tags. I display my tag, which has an automatic counter which now displays 80 instead of the original 75, with Drake Lopez, its inventor. Drake was the BEAI president when we celebrated the BE@75. He did an excellent job at  the preparation and implementation of that milestone of a celebration. It is only my personal summing up, but the BE@75 preparation and conduct is a good model in Beta Epsilon Project/Activity Management. Thank you, Drake! Hindi ka pala IndiEngineer, true blue engineer ka pala.
